So you wrote a book, now what?
Reader’s Block wants your book! We do! Especially if you are local to the area! As an indie author, I know how difficult it is to get our books into the hands of readers, let alone bookstores. So, this is where you need to be to get all your information on how to get your books on the shelves here at RB!
First, the facts: Not all books will make! I just don’t have the space or the time to shelve all your beauties. I wish I could, but it isn’t possible. The book must meet RB standards in terms of binding, appropriateness, and sell-ability. If decline your consignment, it’s nothing personal; it’s simply not a good match for our market.
RB goes by industry terms of 40%. So, if your book is $10, your take is $6 and $4 will go to the bookstore. Pretty simple. So, price your book accordingly. Keep in mind if it is sold on Amazon – if a customer can get it cheaper on Amazon, they will complain and won’t buy it from me.
Books will be on display for a three month period. At the end of the three months, it is the consignor’s, responsibility to return to Reader’s Block to close out their account for payment and to pick up their books. Books will only be held for one month after and more than likely be donated if not retrieved. If any books have been sold it will be the consignor’s responsibility to contact RB within one year of the consignment start date to settle the account.
Please do not drop off your books or stop by unannounced! Email first. If accepted. Do not expect your books to sell themselves! Market them. RB will do our best to make a post here and there with what we have in our inventory, but you know your books best! So, sell them! It is not our responsibility to market your books. RB wants you to make money, we do, but we can’t do the work for you!! Good luck!
Please email email@example.com with title(s) of your book(s), two to three sentences about the book, price, and genre. Feel free to include any extra information you think it important, but keep it brief!
